Dr. Lemons is a preventive medicine specialist based in Birmingham, Alabama, with a subspecialty in Addiction Medicine. He owns and operates Synthesis Health & Wellness, LLC, and also serves as an independent contract physician as a Medical Director in the addiction medicine arena.
He graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1991, after completing his undergraduate work at UAB, then completed his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Carraway Methodist Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident in his last year. He practiced in ObGyn until 2016, with extensive experience in hormonal therapy and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, including advanced robotics.
He maintains his board certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, although he transitioned his career in 2016 to focus on addiction medicine and overall wellness. To bring the same level of expertise and competency to his clientele, he pursued and maintains board certification in Addiction Medicine through the American Board of Preventive Medicine.
His philosophy is grounded in life, health and wellness coaching, blending compassion with accountability. He works as a patient and family advocate to help people overcome limiting beliefs and self-sabotage, and serves to fight against stigmatization.
Outside of his work, Dr. Lemons enjoys golf, sporting events, and time with his family and friends. He has served on the UAB National Alumni Association Board as well as the University of Alabama Shelby County Alumni Chapter Executive Committee. He is a father of three daughters, and loves being a “Grandy” to his two granddaughters.
